AFROPUNK: “Sacrilege” Premiere -- "Racquel Jones’s “Sacrilege” is one of those tracks that latches itself onto your consciousness the second it hits your ear canal. With a totally unique sound that glues the best parts of punk rock, hip-hop, dub, and industrial into one intoxicating brew, Jones’ catches you on the first note." -- "This single fires on all cylinders: performance, production, message, and visuals. Racquel Jones’ full length can’t come soon enough." 12.2

Also Cool Magazine: Interview Feature “A vibrant and ruthless Jamaican rapper, visual artist and model. In her recent music video for “Sacrilege,” she brings horror movie visuals into a Catholic church. By simultaneously horrifying and intriguing her audience, Jones forces us to reflect on the dangers of blind faith in religious doctrine. Through rap flows and poetic verse, Jones aspires to disrupt hate-fuelled tendencies associated with religion, and exposes the toxic headspace that tradition can impose; proactively leading us to dig our way out.” 1.23

American Songwriter: "Using mostly one-word titles, Jones, a former model and longtime collaborator with electronic duo Thievery Corporation, opens several dialogues, breaking open biases she experienced within the modeling world and beyond on “Queen,” the still incessant plight of females on “Jungle,” and the role of religion in life on “Sacrilege,” through the more straight-forward chapters of “Anger,” “Heartless,” ‘Ugly,” and “Hurt,” which is accompanied by a video melding Jones’s other world of visual art."  9.2

Atwood Magazine: Feature “"Empowering, revolutionary, and unapologetic, Racquel Jones’ debut album is a cinematic, visceral upheaval of seismic proportion. IgnoRANT is far more than a collection of songs: It’s a bold statement of affirmation and defiance; of passion and purpose; of dignity and inner strength. It’s a record of truth, and of life – a voice for the voiceless, lighting a fire for all to feel the burn." 5.25

Aupium Magazine: “Sacrilege” Review “Infusing elements of dark pop and hip-hop, Jones delivers punching and biting choruses that soar over the breakneck, dub-indebted soundscape.” 12.16

BLACKBOOK: Interview FeatureMusically, her ability to cross and mix genres with lighting speed and cool effortlessness – a bit of trip-hop here, a hint of calypso there, a hit of old jazz – as well as her reimagining of the contemporary R&B codes that we’ve come to expect of the likes of Janelle Monae, are at times nothing short of breathtaking.” 4.23

BTRtoday: ““Queen” premiere "You never knew the meaning of women lifting women until you hear Racquel Jones’ “Queen” 4.16

CROWNXTHEM: Recommended listen feature in Issue 7 “As you listen from track to track, Racquel's versatility is more than apparent” 5.10

Def Pen: “Hurt” Posting “"When discussing Racquel Jones, the title of “artist” truly applies" 8.11

Eloquent Magazine: Review “"On her latest album, IgnoRANT, MC Racquel Jones weaponizes stereotypes against women and hurls them in the other direction. She’s not afraid to puncture an existing wound or stab a man fresh off a new transgression. The trip-hip, R&B, calypso, and electronic hip hop album is hyper-conscious, hyper-sexual, and highly stimulating. Her daggers are her words, the music a sounding board for higher frequencies of high-speed voltage to bounce off of, and Racquel has the power to flip the switch” 9.6

GHETTOBLASTER: Interview “...we need to say that the Kingston, Jamaica-born artist is an ideal personification of the term “renaissance woman.”  7.23

Grimy Goods: Review “"Constructing an album that seems to take sudden U-turns, before finding an ebb and flow, musician Racquel Jones steps into the role of the all powerful Creator, the Artist penning spitfire lyrics and stringing together a world caught in a delightful dissonance of her own making. ‘IgnoRANT,’ released via Magnetic Moon Records, is the latest release from Jones, a 12-song album that deconstructs, criticizes and explores everything under the sun from religion, relationships and the self. Not shying away from controversial topics too blunt for the cultural mainstream, Jones makes a space for herself and does not shy away from the chaos and symmetry in her mind." 4.30

Haulix: Podcast interview  ‘Part rapper, part painter, part model, and all heart, Racquel is on a mission to make us a more open and understanding world. Her art speaks to the need to do away with hesitation and embrace the fleeting nature of all things. She appreciates the limited time we have to do all that our hearts desire, and she hopes to encourage others to live their best lives whenever possible." 4.21

HALOSCOPE: "Revolutionary is also the word that comes to mind when it comes to rapper, painter, and activist Racquel Jones, whose new album IgnoRANT blends sexuality and religion into a new kind of neural bliss" "A powerhouse in the music industry, her energy and mind unlike any other"

Hunting It Down: “Sacrilege” Review “Her biting, staccato cadence comes with an inherent hostility toward those in the past and future who have harmed her and her family; and this hostility becomes contagious with the ferocity of the beat and bass. But the attack isn’t blind, or worthless. It forces often-forgotten ideas into the listener’s head, and reminds them that Christianity isn’t, and certainly wasn’t innocent in its dealings with the black community. It’s a strong single that owns itself, has a lot to say, and makes me excited for what Jones’ future has to offer.” 12.14

Music Connection: Album Review “"Rapper, painter, poet, model (and plenty other facets of an artiste) Racquel Jones’ new release tackles hard truths, justified anger, introspection and demands for change. “Sacrilege” is a standout single—a sonic and conceptual counterpart to faith-based interludes like “Doxology.” On top of the album’s industrial, Yeezus-esque production treatment, Jones proves she is a commanding lyricist, eclectic emcee, deep-thinker and activist"  4.26

Play Too Much: Album review "No matter what you like, Jones most likely excels at it, so keep her on your radar before her career explodes into full-fledged stardom" 4.25

PLAY TOO MUCH: “Hurt” feature “Racquel Jones is single-handedly terrific at all that she does.”  8.5

Prelude Press: “Sacrilege” interview feature: “With “Sacrilege” serving as the pushing-off point for even more new music and an upcoming album, Jones hopes to continue the conversation moving forward, however if the rest of the album is anything like “Sacrilege”, it seems more likely that she’ll incite a revolution.” 12.21

THAT Music Mag: Album review “IgnoRANT covers everything from the toxicity that comes from religion, specifically Christianity, and Catholicism in her case, to racism, and sexism, and it could not have come at a better time. She continues to accomplish more than the last, with this new record at the top of it all.”  6.12

The Vinyl District: Feature. “To some, she’s an amazing musician and vocalist.  For others, she’s an inspired artist and painter. However, after peeling back the onion a bit, we found Racquel Jones to be quite simply extraordinary.”  6.21
